Studio Foon x Thea
It all started when I ran into May, the co-owner of Thea Matcha, at a mutual friend's exhibit. From that moment, we both knew a collaboration was on the cards. We decided to create a collection of Chawan (matcha bowls) and Chasen (whisk holders) that would complement the ritual of matcha.
It was an absolute pleasure visiting May in Auckland to see their space and have some good chats about how they approach their business and brand. They gave me the creative freedom to design pieces that resonated with both of us and I really appreciated the trust they placed in me.
It was a challenging process, both Chawans and Chasens I’d never attempted before. It pushed me to think differently about form and function, especially in getting the shape and pour just right. It wasn’t easy but seeing them come to life and knowing they were well received was incredibly rewarding.
