Journey
My journey is focused on creating with intention, designing functional and beautiful objects that are meaningful in our daily rituals.

Based in Tairāwhiti Gisborne, Aotearoa, my journey with ceramics began as a simple hobby but quickly grew into an obsession, sparked by my first throwing class with Seymour May, a local potter and someone that continues to help me through my journey.
After years of putting pottery to the side while working on another project, I spent the odd moment here and there learning and refining my skills in the bedroom/living space of my basement studio. In March 2024, I decided to take the leap and pursue it full-time.
Intention
Everything begins with intention. I care about design, function and the beauty, not just in the ceramics themselves but the entire experience. Each is an opportunity to reflect the values that are behind Studio Foon: design, craft, connection, community and being present.
Inspiration
It comes in many forms, constant thoughts throughout the day and night revolve around my ceramics. Everyday life influences me, from nature’s colours to books, films, art, and objects. A set of plastic picnic cups in an op shop or the hue of a terracotta brick can spark an idea, taking shape through constant sketches and notes.
Process
This is where the magic happens, the play between creativity and craft. Being deeply focused and immersed in the details allows me to move into a flow state. Then stepping back to question and consider how it was done and how it could be refined. That constant is what I love, reflecting on where it began and how it evolves.
